We are a small candy company attempting our first BRC audit in 3 weeks. We are stuck on the following:

Where the company employs third party contractors (in storage and transport), all the requirements specified in this section shall be clearly defined in the contract or the company shall be certified to the GSSD.

Any advice on how we can handle this?

Use a Transport code of Practice... transfer all the points from the clause into a document which you can send to your transport companies and get them to sign. Also get them to send you a copy of their breakdown procedure ( though in your case shelf life isn't as important, I mean you have a long shelf life compared to frozen food etc...)

If your transport companies are certified then you don't need to do this, but you need to have a copy of their certificate on site the day of the audit, and make sure it is in date.

Holler if you need anything else...

I have a TCP if you want to cannabalise it

I'm entitled to my opinion, even a stopped clock is right twice a day

Yes, thanks for that.
We did not have any formal contracts in place but had a Haulier Questionnaire that captured our requirements and needed to be filled out by transport companies. Together with our own goods out vehicle checks it did the job.
