Hello all,

We have just conducted our first forever BRC Issue 6 audit yesterday and received grade "A". We used to carry HACCP and GMP previously but management decide to "upgrade" the food safety system.

We hired a consultant working with us for 15 man-power day which including 3 days of all staff training. I have found a list of "changes from Issue 5 to 6" and 2 x BRC reports on internet, and the info is pretty helpful. I used this info to perform the internet audit which really help me to understand the BRC system.

See the attached file of "changes of Issue 5 to 6" in word doc but the BRC audit reports mentioned "This report shall not be reproduced in part without the permission of CB". To avoid copy right legal issue, I will post the link for your reference.

Furthermore, some doc is "A MUST": QM, Management review, KPI, Traceability (Fw <--> Bk), AVL (approval vendor list), allergen control (we use AccuClean from Neogen and our auditor accept it), organic product control procedure, glass control, wood control, metal and sharp metal control, blue plaster, pest control, weight variation (you have to show the reason of the setting)

For hand free wash station, we want to save the spending of $2-3k buying a hand free wash sink, instead, we modified the water tap linking with a spring and only spent $50 on this modification. I think this is a nice one for a small company having their first hand free wash station within a dirt cheap budget, I will post the design if receiving more than 10 feedbacks (just want to see if anyone is really interested about it).

Good luck to whoever will conduct the BRC Issue 6. Wish this info will help.

Hey Big Kid,

I'm interested in your hands free modification, we just had our pre-assessment and this is one of the changes we must implement

Please explain about the spring?

One option I thought of for very small manufacturers could be to have an elbow operated tap (as seen in hospitals sometimes) but I'm not sure what you mean with the spring? Can you post a photo?
