Benefits of IFT Certified Food Scientist qualification?

Has anyone started the process through IFT to become a certified food scientist? Or anyone that has done it and what kinds of benefits have you gotten from it so far? I'm strongly considering doing it along with a colleague of mine. We both have essentially the same background and education in food science.

PS - there is a quite interesting (challenging?) small sample, self-test, exam paper on the site sub-linked in above posted link with model answers. Worth looking at if you have a little spare time. ![]()
