Good day,

 

During BRC audit I had not the same understanding with the auditor about the meaning of "alternative use" in the description..

 

Since I replied there was no alternative use that could harm the consumer but the auditor insisted there should be one.

Not necessarily

 

An alternative use would be using vinegar to rinse your hair

or use oats to make a face mask

or using tomato ketchup to clean gold

 

You have to think of all sorts that your product could be potentially used for

I know what alternative use means but I would more comfortable if I had to deal with product that should be cooked or heated prior to consumption, so I could say alternative use is "consumption without cooking or heating" and consider hazards related to this fact. For canned tuna, the finality is the consumption without consideration of the presentation.

Perhaps you could inform which paragraph in the BRC standard caused the audit disagreement.

 

And a little context, eg yr product/process as related to yr OP.
