I have been checking the SQFI site weekly for the guidance docs hoping they would be there! Does anyone have any idea of when they might be released? Thanks:)

Called SQFI at the beginning of August. Customer service said they should have the guidance documents posted mid to late September. But then again, they said that about July too!
Cheers!

It seems like it would have made sense to release the guidance doc at the same time as the new code to help the transition process along (particularly for us wannabe SQFer's) but who am I to doubt the powers that be! I'll just have to keep checking in!

Thank you for asking that question. Curious how the same thing happens every time the change the code. Of course they scheduled my audit for Jan. 3. Great. I have six weeks to start generating records in conformance with the new code.

Unless it's changed for edition 8, remember that the guidance as such is not binding. It's ultimately the text of the code to which you must hold yourself and the auditor.

RMAV,
Your correct it isn't binding but for someone like myself and others who are looking to move from an existing certification into SQF the guidance documents are a source of comfort. SQF is a daunting prospect at the beginning.

Our audit is January 4 and 5. They sure are not providing much time to review the guidance documents and prepare. While the guidance documents may be non-binding, they do provide very helpful insight into the intent of the code.

I agree, they do. I feel bad for the folks getting audits in early January - it's really not a lot of time unless you have robust staffing levels to accomplish.

If you have any more questions, please let us know: 202-220-0635.
Thanks and have a great day.

We are now to the middle of October and still no guidance documents. I am going to a training course on Thursday, hopefully will get some more insight there.

We have been staying in touch with SQF Institute on this issue. Lot's of promises - no results. Very disappointing.
