Certainly for food products you would; before we load a truck, QC check that the unit is recording the temperature. All haulage companies would have this a matter of course.

I would like to ask about this requirement too, specifically about elements 12.6.7 and 12.6.9, the code mention "product temperatures monitored at regular intervals during loading as appropriate" or "temperature checked at regular intervals during transit.", so there is no requirement to check temperature constantly but at "regulars intervals", it is simple to check temperatures during loading and then specifically during transit, it could be at every truck stop, or any other interval that you can demonstrate it is valid and you can support with an analysis.

Some large freight companies have data loggers built into the refer system that sends data directly to the company, you could ask for that, or ask how often the driver records the refer setting. Any company worth it's salt can answer those questions for you
If you are worried that you've got temperature abuse during transport, then you can buy data loggers to put with the load and ask the receiving company to courier them back to you
Please stop referring to me as Sir/sirs

Charles has some good info. I have used data loggers that recorded automatically with a check during unloading and loading to verify. They also make temperature abuse strips that you can send on a few loads to validate the results you're getting from the reader.
