We are shortening our plan and I am wondering if we can leave out the list of known potential food safety threats (E.G. Floods, Drought, and Fire) that we had tested.  We have records for testing these events, but do they need to be listed in the plan and including business impact rating?

Thank you

Well!, I am not sure what you are saying "recover.' I believe that is the purpose or Crisis Management plan is to recover from a unplanned business disruption?
the question is, do I need to list the potential business impact situation in the plan?

I think I was pretty clear on the question.

I wanted to know if you actually plan on recovering any of your finished goods not the business

I'm asking because in the facility I am now, a major crisis would be the end of the business as it stands............we would have to dispose of everything........so I don't test our plan, simply have a statement that says our customers are aware

You don't need to include the list in your test, but should remain in your policy statement

I am starting to understand what you are saying, I need to separate the Product from the business continuation. Mostly because if a disaster was to occur we will be dealing with product only. Hence - We will be mitigating the "Risk" of product being used in the market place. Which explains why SQF changed the old standard name of Business Continuity Plan to Risk Management Plan.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Exactly right.

My auditor had an issue originally then I flat out asked what does the business continuity have to do with FOOD SAFETY

I object whole heartedly on the element..............they need to remove the word "business" in it's entirety and call the element something else.............like Food Safety Crisis Plan

we have shelf stable product so I wouldn't put anything in to the market place if i had any concerns at all about the seal integrity........never mind that they would all explode in a fire!!!!

All that work we put into the plan, now I have to tell my superiors we could just use a statement to satisfy this element.

the issue is auditors are not auditing consistently nor are the enforcing the code as it's written

I cannot think of a situation whereby another should contemplate salvaging food that's been through a flood, fire, tornado etc.........we all pay for insurance.........it's a write off
