Good afternoon all.

Looking for peoples thoughts relating to the above clauses.

We have limited space for changing but we do have the following.

Personal Lockers, Coat hooks for work wear and personal wear.

Separate Lockers and changing area for Agency workers, visitors and contractors.

We do not have any laundry facilities either in house or off site.

It is our thoughts currently that what we have in place "should" be enough.

We are a low risk spirit co packer, 90% of the operation is enclosed, from tankers to vats to fillers.

Does anyone agree/disagree with our current stance?

All comments welcome :ejut:

thanks

Neil

Where does your PPE get cleaned, if neither on-site nor externally?

Each employee washes their own, Alien to me but the business is early on its Food Safety Journey.

You have my sympathies - it's a position I know all too well!

To be completely honest, I'd be very nervous about 7.4.3 going into a BRC audit with the home washing setup. The standard does still have an allowance for it, and indeed there are circumstances where it's entirely reasonable IMO, but you'll want to make sure that you have everything in place to demonstrate people are following the procedure, and also some very clear justification that you're meeting both the enclosed/low risk element and that the clothing is to protect the employees from the products, which is perhaps more challenging in this type of production facility.

For 4.8.3, are you saying that employees store their clean workwear and their own clothing on separate hooks but within the same locker? Is there any sort of divider within the locker, or procedure detailing that work clothing is stored in a protective cover or similar? Or have I completely misunderstood your post, and you're talking about storage outside of lockers on two completely separate sets of hooks / hanging areas?

Thanks for the feedback

What we currently have in the changing room is personal lockers for full time staff where they keep their personal belongings, we also have separate lockers/changing area for agency staff.

The lockers are not divided, outerwear like jackets are kept on a separate hooks and divided by a bank of lockers and on the other side hangs High Vis jackets, company fleeces jumpers etc.

Our production staff do not wear uniforms but only safety vest. We are a beverage manufacturing site, BRC Certified with AA Grade.
