Dear All,

Given your experience and industry practices, I would like to know how often you perform migration analysis on plastic materials considered high risk for direct food contact.

Thinking that the product and production process are not changed.

What about raw materials for the production of the plastic?

We carry migration testing and NIAS screening every 3 years, we also rely on our supplier's DoC that we keep up to date in our product safety database.
I believe the legal requirement is every 5 years.

Once year for OML, SML, OTR and WTR.

The frequency is also predetermined by customers.

Hi,

Here we carry out tests whenever we produce a new product (assuming it has more additives/raw materials or different ones).
Sometimes it happens that we have products that are a "worst case" of the ones we have already analyzed (for example the same formulation but 1 more additive) which is great.
If it is a product in which the formulation has not been changed at the end of three years, we repeat the test.
