Hello,

If a GFSI certificate expires before an audit takes place, will there be any penalties? If not what is going to happen within that time when the company is not a GFSI certified?

Thanks for your feedback.

I would guess it depends if it is the companies fault or the CB's fault.  If the company held off on scheduling the recertification audit and thus the certificate would expire before your audit, you would, I would believe, lose certification.  So instead of a recertification audit it would be a certification audit.  If it was an issue with CB scheduling, they should be reached out to and asked what happens next.  Either way this is discussion between the company and the CB.

If it's the CB's fault, you should ask them for a letter of good standing with an explanation of an audit delay.

If your certificate expires BEFORE your audit----you absolutely loose your certification and have to start all over which is more costly than making it work within the allowable time frame

Call your CB today---do not delay on this
