Dear All

i am preparing matrix for categorization of control measures  based on ISO 22000: 2018 7 questions. but i have concern on below : is this correct  which i select or may need some correction ? suggestion shall be valuable for use to make effective methodology.

Feasibility for monitoring ©

High:            3

Continuous

Medium:    2

At defined frequency

Low:             1

Monitoring is difficult / manual

Probability of  failure of control measure (A)

High:            3

Often: Once in a month

Medium:      2

Occasionally: Once in a 6 months

Low:             1

Marginal: Maybe once in a year

Consequence in case of failure of control measure (B)

High:            3

Definitely affect the product

Medium:      2

May affect the product

Low:             1

Marginal impact on end product not affecting food safety

Feasibility for monitoring ©

High:            3

Continuous

Medium:    2

At defined frequency

Low:             1

Monitoring is difficult / manual

Effect on the Hazard (D)

High:             3

Eliminate the Hazard

Medium:     2

Reduction to acceptable level

Low:              1

Prevent the Hazard

Is there is successive control measure? (E)

Yes:               0

There is an successive control measure

No:                3

This is the final control measure

Is the control measure specifically designed? (F)

Yes:               3

 Specifically designed

No:                0

 Not specifically designed

Is there synergistic effect with other control measures? (G)

Yes:               3

Synergistic effect

No:                0

No any synergistic effect

Hi sunil malethia,

All  proposed solutions, both qualitative and quantitative, are inevitably subjective in some parts. A near Encyclopedia of possible methodologies exists.

Can compare your evaluation methodology to this one  -

https://www.ifsqn.co...18/#entry138153

(Most of your scores looked reasonable to me [I usually avoid giving time periods since some BPC hazards can make them contentious]. IIRC the "synergy" aspect was removed in Standard's 2018 version + a (very) few other items/modifications were added as compared to Standard's 2005 version).

If one prefers a non-quantitative approach, the (ageing) Coca-cola solution (see post 24 following above link) is IMO still very useful.

Alternatively another, recent, detailed analysis (albeit IMO sometimes debatable) is provided in the FSSC22000 ver 5. Guidance material (or prob. any later, more up-to-date versions). (freely available afaik from FSSC website).
