Hello,

During the last BRC audit we got few non conformities, and we have 28 days to close the non conformities. We sent samples abroad for testing to close a non conformity, unfortunately we will not have the test results before the end of  28 days limit. Is there  something that we can do ? Is it possible to ask for extension of the period for few days ?

Assuming your case is genuine and your convincing power, an extension could be possible at the pleasure of the auditing body.

In such scenario, we recommend to submit actions initiated, as a corrective action.

 

You mention that the sample is sent for the testing to so & so laboratory and the results awaited. Give evidence document the laboratory acknowledgement receipt of email confirmation. Also you must have done RCA, to find the cause - why this test was not done. One of the causes could be - it is not a part of SOP or schedule. Update that SOP or schedule and provide it as a corrective action.

We had a BRC audit that the dock doors had to fixed but the parts would not be at the facility within 28 days.  I submitted the purchase order, confirmation and estimated arrival date from the company it was like 6 to 8 weeks.  The auditor accepted of course that was several years ago.

I had the same experiences with Sheilag in this matter.

Additionally, it would help if there is a planned action in case that the test returns fail.
