I think GFSI helps in business to business though if I'm honest.  Certainly I'm less likely to audit a supplier if they are GFSI certified.

Personally I'm not.  I have visited and audited enough facilities to know that just because a company is GFSI certified certainly doesn't guarantee they are good.  I do not care what you are 3rd party audited too, I still want to see the same documents and may still want to audit you depending on your risk.

Case in point there is a recall for GV Chia seeds.  We all know who sells the brand name GV and they require GFSI.  Not saying that in my mind a GFSI certified place has a little more merit, but certainly not letting my guard down when I see it.

We have 100s of suppliers.  I would not get the resource to audit them all.  So we risk assess and the GFSI approval is part of that.  Albeit if the material is higher risk then we may still audit.

i have been in food safety for 5-6 years initially i didnt care about money i was passionate, curious and had the drive. Now, after working for these terrible companies (although i learned a lot from them for which i have gratitude) i am already tired of this because of low wages, nobody takes us seriously (unless you work for a company that does which is becoming rare), growth, and lack of interest. I have started studying to switch industries and if that doesnt work i can always come back tbh i dont wanna come back i will do anything else.

I agree! I have also started studying to switch industries. Maybe it will get better before then.... I don't know, but I do know I already feel better just knowing I will have another option after my schooling is done.

I actually got an offer outside the food biz yesterday, and must admit I'm considering it.   I left teaching due to heavy handed government interference in my work, and moved to the food industry, which at the time wasn't like that, but now is.   It seems like the government follows me to whichever career move I make to screw up my shiz!   Lol....   God help wherever I go next...

It's interesting that you think the US government is heavy handed on food. Having supplied the US I kinda think they aren't? Or at least aren't in ways that would help. Perhaps that's what you mean?

Did you take plan C? I tell you it's tempting to leave the food industry. I'm on my last throw of the dice.

Yeah, I didn't really mean the government is heavy handed, more the way inspections are going, and someone that knows nothing about my facility coming in and telling me what/how to do things.   Just outside interference/bs in general.  Which I do feel like is happening to the biz, yeah.

And I haven't decided to take the other offering, no.    But ya never know......

I had a Friday where you question your career choices. I did look for jobs randomly after I got off work. Many not in the food manufacturing field.

Managing people and the gray areas of HR. That is where my burnout is coming from (plus everything mentioned). I know that's in any field. However to stay in quality control field, most of the jobs require you to manage a staff.
