I am aware the tesco standard is copy righted- we
Are looking at potential supply and just want to know
-audits are unannounced?
- are they reasonable audits?
-Are there any weird bits /expensive bits in the standard
-if you could compI, is it similar to Saintsbury? Morrison?

- Unannounced, however the first initial audit is announced. 

 

- Tesco auditors are very strict. 

 

- I wouldn't say they are expensive but they have a lot of guidance's (Tesco Requirements for suppliers) , and you will need to create a gap analysis between your current situation and Tesco standard (is a time consuming task) 

 

- you will find differences, for example Tesco has their own special procedures (Tesco Requirements for suppliers)  for Withdrawal / Recall, you will need to remember about this to include in your procedure next to Morrisons and JS standards. Slightly different microbiological standards or whistleblowing

Doesn't sound like fun. I guess I need to wait until we get a bit further along before I get the standard to do the gap analysis.
Is there a requirement that every batch supplied needs micro testing?
Would you say their standard is more like Morrison's or Salisburys.
How long is the unannounced audit window?

not fun at all... is just additional pain.. 

 

I don`t know what kind of product you want to supply but for example bagged salad, micro was a positive release (short shelf life etc) 

 

Similar but not the same, if you have BRC in place, then you have basics. 

 

Dependant on your site approval, I would say is 12 months from the initial site approval audit ( this will be confirmed by Tesco Category technical manager)
