How do food companies that ship less-than-container loads ensure that hazardous materials are not loaded with food products? The co-loader has mentioned that they do load hazardous materials inside the same container as non-hazardous products.

We will be using a dedicated food carrier, however that brings with it slightly higher fees for shipping.

 

Since most can not ensure mixed loads it is imperative that your food products are highly protected and that your loads are never loaded with corrosives, acids or explosives.

It also depends on their definition of hazardous. Certain food ingredients like flavors, sodium chloride (salt) in high amount can be classified as hazmat. 

Like Glenn said, someone will have to absorb the cost to monitor it.
