So a short time into a new job, I mean REALLY short, I've come to the conclusion it's just effing awful.

Since I joined, I've averted a major customer crisis but it feels like compliance is hanging on by the fingernails.  Due to the nature of what we make, the food safety risk isn't huge, but there are other risks I just don't feel are being managed and despite working crazy hours, I have no hope of getting there.

People are very lovely and understand how I'm feeling but aren't actually offering any practical support because they're just as overloaded.

I was also promised certain things at interview and offer which they had no hope of offering.

So...  Is it me?  Or is it the role?  This is what I'm going round and round on.  If my previous tenure was long I'd quit now.  But sadly it wasn't.

And I'm SO close to burning out.  😖

Just quit.

That's what I did, it was a very freeing day - then go and take your shoes and socks off and walk in the grass.

Grounding will give you energy as you'll need to get back into getting a good position.

No it is not you GMO,

Based on your posting history, you are clearly one of the most technically competent people on the forums so chin up!  :smarty:

If it is really short then the gap in your CV is not going to be gaping.

I would get touch with the main recruitment agents that advertise on FoodmanJobs, put the feelers out and jump if something suitable comes up.

Good luck,

Tony

No, it's not just you. It seems like the industry has been struggling since covid. I took 2 years off and was hoping it would all be back to normal when I got back to it.

At least this time I picked a place where the ownership was very concerned about keeping quality/FS high so that is a huge help.
