I'm left wondering if this auditor is just copy-pasting someone else's report and changing a few details to count it as your audit.

This is EXACTLY what some auditors do.  They copy and paste.  Or have stock phrases they use.

I cannot talk for SQF but some CB on GFSI and non GFSI schemes have unrealistic write up times and some don't even pay your time when you're travelling.  So you have a choice.  If you can you write up as you travel.  If you can't due to having to drive for example, then you write up as you go as much as possible and copy and paste other areas.

I don't do that but I'm not old and jaded (yet) when I do audits.  I also have a phenomenally fast typing speed (hence my ability to complete lots of comments on here lol!)

If the actual NCs are real issues, just with inaccuracies in reporting, I would point this out but gently.  It's not good practice what your auditor has done but I never see the point in creating more enemies than absolutely necessary.  Just point out that you're not clear the wording is quite correct, suggest alternative wording to make sure you'd not misunderstood the non conformity and leave it at that.

As for answering other messages or doing personal work during an audit?  Almost never but I did have a family crisis last week which I did need to deal with.  You never know what's happening in someone's life.  It's easy to make up a story about someone being rude or inattentive when actually they may have been dealing with a personal or work crisis and just didn't handle it well.

We had one auditor that was particularly awful.. kept talking about himself and how he was "training the trainer" at many other companies.  He was nitpicky over the smallest things, and after all of the headaches with him, we came out of it with 5NCs, all minors.  After him we changed CBs and have had excellent audit experiences since.. the auditors have been thorough but very fair.. the scores have been up and down and in one case a lower score was the wake up call that was needed to improve.
