Hi everyone,

I'm facing the Costco's food safety small supplier audit.

The "supplier monitoring" part state as follows: "A requirement that the facility's raw material (including packaging) suppliers operate under a Food Safety Management System, which includes a HACCP plan and annual third party audit"

What is a Food Safety management System? What should I state in my Supplier approval program and how should I manage the subsequent supplier approval?

Any tips would be really appreciated, as well as some actual examples.

Food Safety Management System (FSMS) usually just refers to your book of SOP's and programs.  So in that requirement, they want to make sure that your Supplier Approval Program requires your suppliers to have an FSMS that includes HACCP plans and third-party audits.  Pretty standard stuff.  When you vet your suppliers, there are a thousand ways to verify that they have a FSMS (mine is a form with a checkbox), then you can ask for copies of their HACCP flow charts, and copies of their third-party audits.
