As part of the Management Review in 2.1.2 of the SQF code, there is a requirement for senior site management to review food safety culture performance. How does your team review this and what kind of information is reviewed in your site?  I'm looking to improve this portion of my management reviews and want to see what others focus on.

Thank you

It's included on my monthly FSQM team meetings. I typically cover things I see as culture issues creeping up in the plant.

For example, last months was lack of removal or covering of jewelry in GMP areas and how management/supervisors need to focus on training/reinforcing that this month.

Cool story: I approached a 'newer' hire when I noticed they had diamond studs blinging me from across the room in their nose/lip. When I asked them if their training included removal of (or covering of if not removeable) any jewelry while in the GMP areas, they told me "Well yeah, but I'm going to be honest with you the blue covering tape you guys have for us to cover I just don't like the look. I don't want to look like a mummy all day you know what I mean?"  :headhurts:

Thanks for the response!  I like the idea of addressing GMP issues especially involving jewelry as that seems to be an ever revolving issue.  That's quite the story too.  People never cease to amaze!

In addition to reviewing the results and trends from our GMP inspections, we also run a monthly food safety trivia contest every month. It's a simple GMP question, straight out of their annual GMP training, and a correct answer enters you into a PTO raffle.

We look at engagement through the % of employees who respond ( although there have been some debate on whether this is a useful metric or whether we are actually measuring how motivated employees are by a little extra PTO, lol) and knowledge retention from the % of correct answer submitted. It gives us some information on where we can improve our GMP training and allows us to have a little bit of fun, as we are so often end up in the position of being the no-fun police.
