Hi everyone,

Our product falls under food category 7.2 Fine bakery wares.

According to GSO 2500:2015, Anthocyanine (INS 163) also known as Grape Skin Extract is included in Annex Table (1A) Permitted Natural Colours for Use in Foodstuff in General.

However, since this colour is not included in Table Two or Table Three of the regulation we are unsure if this colour is permitted to be used in the food category for Middle East.

Can someone help to clarify?

Thank you!

Regards, Sofia.

From the list it doesn't look like INS 163/E163 is listed. I also searched other names/terms that could have been used. I didn't find any.

These are the only categories (link below) that have it listed as an additive. I don't see 7.2. I am pretty confident it is not allowed in the base cake/biscuit/dough otherwise it would be listed.
