A company I'm consulting for does not have a backup practitioner and due to head count and current staff workload doesn't seem to be motivated to train a backup.

This would obviously be marked a non-conformance during an audit, though I'm not sure if it would be considered a minor or major. I'm leaning towards a potential major, wanted to see if anyone else has been in a similar situation?

Minor to maybe major.

Make the President the back-up, or so other higher up.

It could become a major when an Auditor walks in and the regular SQFP is off and there is NO backup to cover - that will be a big oops.

Very difficult to tell an Auditor, sorry but the key person is out today and there is no backup - so please come back another day, that happened to me once - it did not go over too well for the facility that day.
