Happy New year! I am aware that folic acid is to be added to non wheat flour by the end of the year and just looking for some clarity before contacting our suppliers!

Is it to be added to all wheat flour for example that will be used in sauces and other products or just bread flour?

Thanks

The only exemption to this new requirement is wholemeal flour, because the bran and wheat germ from the grain included in the final flour are natural sources of vitamins and minerals. (It is also still allowed to important and export non-fortified flour that is not intended for the UK market or not intended to produce food for the UK market).

How the flour is used is not relevant for the interpretation of this law.
