Hi all,

I've just come across this and thought I would share as I thought it could be useful/interesting. Its from the BRC site and it provides a little guidance on a few of the clauses in V6

Dear Jayc,

Interesting stuff. Many thanks. (FPI, document is dated 8May 2012).

First time I hv seen a decision tree specifically for a metal detector. Seems to demand a risk assessment of how good consumers's are at spotting metal particles in/on their apples. Potential customers may include?

The absence of metal detection equipment cannot be justified on the basis of cost.

I suggest they should have included the word "solely" on.....

I wonder what the difference is between these selected items and the content in the Non-free "Guidelines" publication (not yet issued ?). Or are they included in it, ie this is a promotional tit-bit ?

Thanks for sharing...I too am excited to finally have a decision tree to justify to management the absolute need for a metal detector in our process!

Thanks for that Jayqc,

The Decision Tree for Metal Detection is interesting.

Are there robust, effective systems of product inspection or controls of likely sources of metal?
(eg knife controls in place that prevent the risk of contamination and this is supported by the absence of metal complaints).

Although not a V6 audit I was in a position a few years ago where the organisation I worked for recieved a major non-compliance for lack of metal detection. I appealed to BRC and it was revoked on the basis of risk assessment, regular inspections of items like bolts & knives and a lack of metal complaints in historical data.

Regards,

Tony
