Soon EU will be proposing legislation on proper labeling for packaged foods with regards to keeping the immuno-compromised, dietly challenged and other sensitive consumers to be better informed.
Allergy is set to becoming a major issue in trade and a good reason to discuss it in this forum as well. I know it is not easy to request for an ingredient lists from the company which is often treated with huge suspicion that they are giving away their product formula.
Misunderstanding often occurs but there is a clear definition between an ingredient list and product formulation. How else can an ingredient be determined to be a potential or known allergy when such information can not be obtained not forgetting that these ingredients are subject to hazards indentification process as well.
I am sure different manufacturers around the world have different perceptions towards providing such information. It would be interesting to know how this sensitive issue is dealt with elsewhere.
