Environmental Monitoring Programs – From Risk to Digital Implementation is a practical 4-hour online training webinar designed for food safety and quality professionals responsible for developing, managing, or improving Environmental Monitoring Programs (EMP) within their facilities.

Environmental Monitoring is now a mandatory pillar of food safety management under GFSI-recognised schemes including FSSC 22000 v6, IFS Food v8, BRCGS Food v9, and SQF 9, as well as global legislation. This training provides clear, step-by-step guidance on designing a risk-based EMP and integrating it effectively into daily operations, even where resources are limited.

In the first part of the training, participants will gain an understanding of current microbiological trends, hygiene principles, and certification and legislative requirements. Real case studies demonstrate the consequences of inadequate monitoring and highlight key risk areas in food production environments.

The second part focuses on risk-based zoning and programme design. Participants will learn how to define production environments, establish Zones 1–4, conduct practical risk assessments, prioritise sampling locations, and build a structured sampling plan tailored to their facility. Practical templates and documentation examples are included.

The third section covers implementation, digitalisation, and AI applications in EMP. Participants will explore how to collect and evaluate environmental data, use dashboards and automated alerts, apply trend analysis, and implement predictive modelling to proactively identify contamination hotspots. Integration with HACCP verification and management review is also addressed.

The final section focuses on audit readiness and continuous improvement, including what certification bodies and customers expect to see, how to manage non-conformities and corrective actions, develop EMP KPIs, and strengthen reporting systems. Real industry case studies demonstrate effective implementation and digital monitoring in practice.

All attendees receive training slides (PDF) and practical templates for risk zoning, sampling plans, and trend analysis, an example digital EMP dashboard (demo format), a personalized IFSQN Training Academy Certificate, 30-day access to the webinar recording, and post-webinar contact with the presenter for advice.
