Premium Webinar Description
Crisis Management & Communication in the Food Industry is a practical 4-hour online training webinar designed for food safety, quality, and senior management professionals responsible for preparing and responding to crises within their organisation.
Food businesses must be ready to manage product recalls, foodborne outbreaks, supply chain disruptions, cyber incidents, and reputational threats. Certification schemes such as ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, IFS, BRCGS, and SQF require documented and tested crisis management procedures, including structured communication strategies. This training provides clear, step-by-step guidance on designing, implementing, and testing an effective crisis management and communication system.
In the first part of the training, participants will gain an understanding of ISO and GFSI-recognised requirements, regulatory expectations in the EU and USA, and the core elements of a compliant crisis management system, including planning, testing, and continual improvement.
The second part focuses on building a practical crisis management framework, including defining the crisis team, assigning roles and escalation paths, conducting simulations and mock exercises, and integrating crisis management with food defence, food fraud, and business continuity planning.
The communication section explores best practices for internal communication, supplier and customer engagement, regulator notifications, and media handling. Real-world case examples illustrate both effective and poor crisis responses. The training also examines how AI tools can support crisis response through predictive analytics, drafting press releases, FAQs, and structured customer messaging.
The final section covers product recall and withdrawal communication, including legal and certification requirements, recall plan development and testing, communication templates, digital dashboards, automated alerts, KPI monitoring, and using AI to track recall effectiveness and identify recurring risks.
All attendees receive training slides (PDF) and crisis communication templates, a sample digital-ready Crisis Management & Recall Plan, a personalized IFSQN Training Academy Certificate, 30-day access to the webinar recording, and post-webinar contact with the presenter for support.
