Hi,

Does anyone feel that the Q.A depts of comapnies have been dictating the direction some companies follow.
By that I mean, when I supply a sample of a new product a complete NPD file is also handed over to the customers tech dept. this file includes all the ingredient dec, QUIDS, micro, nutritionals.... and its the tech dept that decides if the NPD should proceed.

Do technical departments wield too much influence??

Hi Charles..

NPD= New product development.

What I meant by the original post was that it seems to me at least, that the technical departments of some companies that we deal with tend to dictate the commercial direction the company follows.
An example I frequently use is the " 2010 desired target levels of sodium in bread".
The aim of the campaign ( organised by the Food safety Authority Of Ireland) is comendable, since we all are aware of the ill effects of sustained high consumption of sodium, but there comes a point where the public needs to decide what is more desirable: Competitive Pricing, High Quality or Health Benefits.
