Simply astonished :uhm:

I've been thinking that any sharp of any shape and dimension would have been banned in food.

If I understand well, there's an acceptable range. If the length is below 7 mm, well the risk is negligible and there's no need to recall the product :uhm: :dunno:

Is this "so-called" risk management ? :uhm: :dunno:

Any comment ? Any example, case study, court sentence ? :dunno:

Have a look at the FDA/ORA website for validation of sharp / foreign objects (which I use very often and which the auditor has no option but to accept)

FDA/ORA Chapter 5, Sub Chapter 555 states that - The product contains a hard or sharp foreign object that measures 7 mm to 25 mm, in length.

and it is a is ready-to-eat product etc ...........

Well! thats the set seizure policy of compliance management by FDA. Despite the numerous ironies in food safety issues, it is worth the while spending so much money into an FSMS and all that it really means is "nobody is right or wrong" so long as you can varify or validate your arguments or claims.
