Dear All!

We are going to certify our FSMS established in our RTE food manufacturing industry by SGS. The only hindrance in proceeding for certification process is that we have to select one from two proposals. One is certification with SAS Accreditation (Swiss Accreditation Service) and second one is with UKAS Accreditation. The difference in certification cost is significant. SAS is less expensive than UKAS.

SGS is recommending that we should go with SAS but due to popularity of UKAS in Pakistan, our management is in real confusion whether it would be feasible to leave potential benefits of certification with UKAS accreditation. Also, if our potential customers demand certification with UKAS accreditation then we would be in a big problem.

Expert opinions, comments and recommendations are needed from members.

With prior thanks.

Regards:
Zeeshan.

Hi Zeeshan,

I have no experience of SAS but they are members of the INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION FORUM so they are recognised and I expect they are equally as competent as UKAS. I doubt very much your customers will specify an Accreditation Body however they may specify a particular Certification Body. You should never have any contact with the Acceditation Body unless your company is involved in a witness audit. That's when the Accreditation Body are Auditing the Certification Body whilst at the same time the Certification Body are auditing you.

Regards,
Simon

Dear Simon,

Thank you for your feedback :smarty: .

I will try to convince the director to go with SGS+SAS to avail the mutual benefits of SGS and less certification cost.

Regards:
Zeeshan.
