Thats what my concern!!
So it means it is not mandatory but it is good to have it right??
I cant ask more training now as i just did my 3 days HACCP and SQF TRAINING:):)

Hi SS2010,

Yes it is good to have conducted an internal auditing course with an accredited and reputable training company as you will not have any issues from the external auditor.

I hope this helps.

Regards

Ajay

Hi again, SS2010.

As the SQF standard dictates:

You must provide internal auditor training for personnel who conduct internal audits. The training will cover internal audit procedures including the planning and scheduling of internal audits, preparing internal audit reports and initiating and following up on audit findings. In order to be effective internal audits should combine several information gathering techniques, including interview of personnel, review of records and observation of current conditions.

I am on the same side of the riverbank with you, SS2010: you don't HAVE to have internal audit certification but it is HIGHLY recommended that you do. But may I say, external auditors do look for that certificate of the QA Manager/Implementer.

The course you just mentioned (HACCP & SQF) would surely have cost over $1,000-? If you follow the principles of internal auditing, you should do well enough until you receive Internal Audit Training when there is more money in the Food Safety Annual Budget . SS2010, the training is as worthwhile as the HACCP training; helps to put things into better perspective and it does in fact make your life as a QA Manager/Implementer a whole lot easier.

Which state are you based in? Advancing Food Safety (haccptown.com.au) offers really good training. I like these guys because they offer more information than you pay for, are very resourceful, and very friendly.

Some questions for you:
  • When will you be externally audited for your first SQF certification?
  • Have you conducted the SQF training from the www.sqfi.com website?

Hi SS 2010,

JAKMQA has written everything clearly for you and totally agree with her comments.

I too am Melbourne based but from the Eastern Suburbs!!!

You can do the internal training online with SAI Global at your own pace and you can claim that as a tax deductible expense for your personal tax returns.

Just frustrated....................I don't like this SQF, so many things and so little information. Now someone told me that the internal audit has to be in a question form and I have to interview departments and it has to be weekly for each department. I thought it would be a yearly audit!

Must watch out for those someone's.

The current edition 6 SQF Level II audit checklist is available under the documents section of www.sqfi.com. There is a cost of $25.00 for the PDF download. With the edition 7 coming on July 1 it may be in the process of being changed out - however that is where it was the last time I was on the site (about 2 days ago).

There's no Guidence Doc yet, but SQFI has put up a doc called SQF Code Change Map: 5th/6th Edition into 7th Edition.

http://www.sqfi.com/...-Change-Map.pdf

It's a 29 page document that explains the element numbering changes and includes a column Description of Change Included in 7th Edition which is relatively helpful in lieu of a new Guidence Doc.

esquef

Hi Asghar,

You are querying a 4 year old post. There may be a delay.

Also not sure what you mean by "SQF manual:" ?

Kind Regards,

Charles.C
