KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 (Bernama) — TPM Biotech Sdn Bhd and International Halal Integrity Alliance Ltd (IHIA) have formed a strategic alliance to conduct consultation, training and workshops on the setting up of laboratories for halal testing and analysis.

They signed a memorandum of agreement to formally endorse the alliance during the World Halal Forum 2011 here last week.

In a statement today, IHIA chief executive officer Darhim Hashim said TPM Biotech was instrumental in providing practical procedures and solutions in developing his company’s module for halal testing and analysis.

“We are confident that this will assist us in setting up the accreditation process to enhance the development and growth of the halal industry,” he said.

Meanwhile, TPM Biotech senior manager Fadzhairi Abd Jabar said the collaboration gave his company an opportunity to heighten awareness and to penetrate into the international market by leveraging on the quality and integrity of its halal analysis package and services.

TPM Biotech Sdn. Bhd. (Formerly known as Periwinkle Science Sdn. Bhd.) was established in 2004 as a fully owned subsidiary of Technology Park (TPM) Corporation Sdn. Bhd, a Malaysian government-linked company. IHI Alliance is a partner of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The International Halal Integrity Alliance ("IHI Alliance") is an international non-profit organization created to uphold the integrity of the halal market concept in global trade through certification, collaboration and membership. IHI Alliance was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee in the international off-shore financial centre of Labuan on 30 April 2007. The formation of IHI Alliance was the outcome of a resolution that was passed at the inaugural World Halal Forum in May 2006 by international delegates representing all areas of the Halal industry value chain and around 30 countries, which was to form its own industry organisation.(http://www.tpmbiotech.com.my/)(http://www.ihialliance.org)
