Hello,

According to my knowledge we mostly use codex ccp tree in ISO 22000 and HACCP

You can find some details by attached links

Dear Moochie,

I presume you are talking about traditional haccp ?

Out of curiosity, why are you seeking a "6-question decision tree" ? Are you specifically Anti-Codex or needing more paper-filling space ?

The item in previous post is ,I think, a recognized American tabular approach to locating CCPs and certainly meets yr numerical criterion but AFAIK is unrelated to ISO and doesn't really resemble a tree to my eyes ??

ISO 22004 does contain a decision tree but it has > 6 steps and is focused on CCP / OPRPs ?

I think you are either misinterpreting or someone is pulling yr haccp-leg ?

In our BRC audit we had last week, we retained our grade 'A' standard by the way, the auditor commented that as we don't have any CCP's only QCP's the codex decision tree doesn't really fit our needs and he had seen a 6 question decision tree through ISO which would suit us better.

And as for needing more paper filling space

Dear Moochie,

Well, it looks like you may hv found yet another auditor who can effectively create confusion without really trying. I can only guess he might hv been referring to a decision tree which had nothing to do with CCPs (ie non-Haccp related) ??

At least the cause of the confusion is now clearly identified.

I'm rather curious as to yr process with no CCPs. Is this because it's a packaging only production or ?

We are a small potato packing plant, we wash, pack and despatch potatoes, very low care, we don't have a metal detector either - off topic i know just wanted you to realise how low care we are. Freaked me out a little when i first started.

We were going through our Haccp part of the audit when he mentioned the 6 question decision tree

Dear Moochie,

I did a little back-tracking after my previous posts and I noticed that you had previously discussed yr process (with myself!) / non-CCPs here –

http://www.ifsqn.com...dpost__p__44798 (et seq.)

so sorry for my receding memory.

I must say that I think you must hv been a skilful negotiator to escape the metal detector / CCP trap. I once worked in a whole fresh fish packing operation and after being auditor, haccp-badgered for many audit cycles (“everybody else has got one” !!) eventually gave in.

I am not sure if this low care / high care terminology originated in UK but it seems an amazingly unfortunate choice of wording to me. It has seemingly forced the industry to stress that low care does not imply low “requirement/control”. As an example see this ecolab brochure which seems to defeat its own objectives IMO by eventually appearing to visually suggest the opposite conclusion, eg a “low-care” washroom !.
