R&D Traceability - BRC 3.9 for samples (non-finished product)

Hello,

When pursuing a BRC certification, does our R&D department need to track samples sent out to potential customers and if so, how do you control the traceability of samples. Sometimes we get samples ourselves that don't go to the finished product; It's a sample that goes into another sample. Would a statement justify the lack of traceability?

No.
Samples too, need to be traceable.

you should somehow now what you have put into your R&D products and from which supplier it came.
How will you ever reproduce the recipe/sample, if you do not know what is in it?
For the use of samples in samples: do you now if the raw material is safe?
