We are revising our BRC documents to the Issue 6 version and have been using the International BRC Manual as a guide. I came across a statement in "Site Standards" that said "all boiler chemicals have either been approved as food additives that meet relevant specifications or have been approved by our regulatory authority as safe for use in water intended for human consumpsion". We use our boiler for CIP and none of the chemicals used for the boiler or the CIP process are safe for human consumpsion but are approved for use in the CIP process for the bottling industry. Have the specification for chemicals used for this cleaning process changed? If so, any recommendations?
Thanks,
New Orleans
