Hello

We are a converting firm. We get PVC bobbins and pirinting them and slice them.

But we have a serious problem with herein.

Problem is the PVC has a odor (solvent odor problem). And we have to wait them before shipment.

We dont have any problem other materials ( OPP, PET, etc...)

Anyone meet with this problem before? and what can we do for this odor problem?...

We slow down our printing machine and try all the ways.but this problem still continue..

can any one help me??

Hello özgür,

As you probably aware the things that can cause ordor.
- Quality of raw material
- Quality of printing inks and lacquers
- Chemical formulation of inks/lacquers
- Machine running speed
- Drying efficiency at standard running speed
- Density of inks printed
- Particular difficult colours (high viscosity,difficult to dry)
- Other chemicals used in the process
- Wait time to conversion and customer –retained solvents

There are a lot of variables to understand and control - youmust have reasonable control of these as you do not have problems with othermaterials.

Perhaps there is some chemical reaction or incompatibility between your inksand PVC. Do you get good ink adhesion? Is the odor apparent on all colours or worseon some than others? I would involve myink supplier at your earliest opportunity. Do you let the material stand in a warm room to speed up the removal ofretained solvents / odor?

I’m no expert, but hopefully a few ideas for you.
