What is the difference between statutory & regulatory regulations ? give examples from food industry.

Examination ??

(I assume "regulatory" = producing or derived from regulation, "statutory" = producing or derived from statute.)

Opinions seem to vary. I doubt that there is any Universal answer, food or otherwise. (hence the varied selection)

Some indications that a lot of use of "loose" terminology is in use, perhaps accidentally, geographically, casual borrowing from random legal originals, self-reinterpretations, etc. (maybe including the OP itself ? )

(It appears also necessary to define "Law", legislatory, Act, Directive, etc.)

Note the apparent contradiction between the answers 1. and 2. ? (regulatory "law" ?)

PPS - Frankly I always use the terms "regulatory" and "legislatory" interchangeably since i never knew any difference. From above links and usual definition of "legislatory", seems that this term is actually more likely to be equivalent to "statutory". Best not to worry about it i guess.

My understanding is that statutory relates to the specific laws, acts or legislation on the statute book.

Regulatory relates to the specific actions, programmes, structures etc that regulate, monitor and enforce the laws, acts etc

My understanding is that statutory means law and regulatory means orientations like codes of good practice, recomendations, ...
