Can you please direct me. Customers are requesting a food safety audit for a transportation company, transport a variety of products.

The plan is to put a HACCP Plan together, but only pick up products and transport ( no storage) and if required trucks are monitored for temperatures. We have good sanitation procedures of the trucks, temperature logs etc. We plan to gather our customers food safety certificates to have on file. We have records that state the products delivered to the sites arrrived in good condition and as per the customer requirements.

First question- Would we have any CCPs? If we have a temperature issue on our truck, there is still is an opportunity for the receiver to reject the product based on temperature, or foul smell?

Second question- So once the HACCP Plan is complete what would be the best audit for a trucking company? Is it Storage and Distrubution or is there something out there just for transporting food?

Thanks

Dear MFSC -
You might check this BRC link. They have a self-assessment tool and other items for transportation that should give you an overview of expectations. http://www.brcglobal...26/Default.aspx

There is a previous thread regarding transportation, where one replier posted his Transportation Code of Practice form. I have attached it here, but I do not remember who initially posted, so not sure who to thank.

I have not dealt deeply with transportation, so not sure if a HACCP plan is required, as you are not producing anything. A solid set of programs to ensure food safety and food defense during transportation, distribution, and storage might be sufficient. I am sure others will let us know...
