Hey, does any of you is involved in some research dealing with alternative proteins in vegetables instead of meet proteins? I got this interesting stuff on Internet by Bill Gates and if there is some experts on this topic it could be useful to give us your opinion!

Companies like Beyond Meat and Hampton Creek Foods are experimenting with new ways to use heat and pressure to turn plants into foods that look and taste just like meat and eggs. I tasted Beyond Meat's chicken alternative and was impressed. I couldn't tell the difference between Beyond Meat and real chicken. Beyond Eggs, Hampton Creek Foods' egg substitute, doesn't contain the high cholesterol of real eggs. Even spices are getting re-made: a company called Nu-Tek Food Science has found a way to make potassium chloride taste just like salt, with only a fraction of the sodium."

Dear Jelena,

Interesting site. Thank you.

I'm also quite impressed that these products have reached Yugoslavia.

Sadly, I guess nothing is perfect. Here's a small caveat to yr closing paragraph -

Dear Charles,

Thank you for this document about salt alternatives. I guess, you are right, something is missing in every possible way of creating proteins...

No, these product are not reached our country of Serbia (please, can some moderator correct Yugoslavia to Serbia because Yugoslavia fell apart a long time ago? - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serbia Posted ImagePosted Image) I found these articles on Twitter! All these product are present only in the USA, I think.

Hi Jelena, the country flag system is an add on to the forum software. It was implemented a number of years ago and has not been updated. We are embarking on an upgrade of the forum software in the very near future and at the same time I will check if there is an updated version of the country flag mod. If not I will probably have to uninstall it, or perhaps get a programmer to bring up to 2013.

Please accept my sincere apologies.

Simon

Well the best protein source with the least impact on the environment will be : insects

But i guess we need to get rid of the mind barriere that is existing against eating insects. To be honest, i also have problems with eating things you can find on this page...but some people say it's very tastefull !

Hey Jelena, check your profile I have removed Yugoslavia and added Montenegro and Serbia as separate countries. Now new members can select the correct country and have a nice flag.

Simon

These alternatives are great, we had only aware of the alternative source for the proteins that is soya and its products but it is very impressive.
Thanks for the sharing .

The downside for soya is that it is an allergenic substance...

There is always a possibility that the more people will eat soya products, the more people will get allergic to it, once they reach the individual treshold they have
