With the growing demand for whey protein, you would think that more and more consumers would be smart about how they use whey – looking out of the best products for the best prices and doing a little research about what whey has to offer. Surprisingly enough, many individuals often buy whey on a whim, purchasing the product because of the hype about building muscle and then learning more about the supplement after they have ordered their first bottle. Although Whey Protein can be a useful tool for improving your physical performance, it is not a magic bullet or quick fix solution.

Whey protein is just like any other protein: it provides the basic building blocks commonly known as amino acids for building muscle. Although whey protein does not build muscle directly, the body uses whey protein to repair and rebuild muscle fibers after exercise. It is said to be superior to other forms of protein, however, due to the fact that it can digest quickly, sometimes appearing the bloodstream in as little as ten to fifteen minutes after ingestion. Whey is often advertised as the highest quality protein available due to its high concentrations of branched chain amino acids. Whey protein comes in various forms, though the two most popular are known as whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrate. Whey protein concentrate is the first filtered powder while Whey protein isolates are the next step in the filtration process. Even if you are lactose intolerant, you may be able to take whey protein isolates safely.
