Is there a QA manager in the group that is the SQF practitioner for a bottle water plant? Looking for best practices and processes in the botle water HACCP.
Thanks for any replies and or help

Hello, I'm the SQF person/QA lead at a bottled water plant. What's your question?

Hi,
i have been in food since 75 as a QA manager, director, plant manager for a canning operation, and most recently a QA manager of a water bottling plant. Water has multiple official bodies looking over it, FDA, IBWA, DEP etc. I am trying to develop a traceability program. The other programs are in place except that one. I just had a SQF level 3 audit and we had 4 non conformities. I would love to chat with you about traceability and other topics. I'm in Reading, Pa and start at 5 and end @5 daily. i have been in the forum in different plants over time and I have not seen or heard of many bottle water QA manager's. We have over 40 clients we produce bottle water for in 8-10-20-25-oz and .5L, 1 L and 1.5 L PET and Gallons. I make over 1Million gallons of product a week.
I look forward to talking to you

For both raw materials and finished goods traceability we use an RFID tag system. Everything gets a part number and each batch of items that get a tag has a unique serial number. We also use this system for warehouse management, inventory control, scrap tracking and product identification. So long as your staff understand use of the system it works pretty well. Unfortunately there are ways around using scan function and items can be manually moved and therefore much more difficult to track.
