How do I go about performing a risk analysis on suppliers? This is what our auditor had to say.

" There is an approved supplier list. It identifies the auditing scheme they are held to. A risk analysis should be performed to determine the risk of a supplier to the organization and the materials they produce."

Is this something as simple as a form like questioner? Thanks.

Dear dustishere,

Once again, it may depend on the standard (if any).

A generic answer to yr question is that it's up to you. And the standard.

Are you already familiar with "risk analysis' as utilised in a typical hazard analysis to find CCPs.?

I ask because if not, some basic study may be required.

Or are you just seeking a "template" (there are many varieties on this forum) ? this may depend on yr product / process / standard?

Kind Regards,

Yes, I am familiar with hazard analysis to find CCPs and I am just more so looking for a template. Also there is no standard.  I have less than a week to get everything squared away for our deadline, so I really dont have time to be making my own. Thanks

it all depends on the applicable standard it would have pointers on what to consider conducting a risk analysis on suppliers.

Typically, from what I've seen, 3rd party questionnaires are used a lot to determine the extent and effectiveness of their programs in concert with as much of their 3rd party audit as they'll share with you (some will give you the entire thing where some will only give their score sheet) and possibly going there for an audit depending on if you can or not.
