I've been poking around the forums for a couple weeks now, I think I'm going to be utilizing this website A LOT in the immediate future. Figured I would stop and make an introduction post.

About two months ago I started as a technical writer/document control specialist at a fairly small snack food company. We're private label that focuses on tortilla and corn chips at the moment. The company is in a weird place right now. We're projected to double our profits (from what I've heard) within the year, but the company has been flying by the seat of its pants to get to this point; which is where I come in.

One of our primary goals to help deal with the explosive growth is to attain BRC certification within the next 8-10 months. My main jobs are to create and implement a documentation system, and assist my supervisor (director of food safety and quality) with implementing BRC.

Before this I was working a return desk in retail for two years waiting for my big post-college break. When this opportunity sprung up I wasn't hesitant about taking it even though there was a chance that I would of been stuck working in the QA lab. So, I have about 4 months of food manufacturing experience and I'm already in charge of a brand new department at the company. It's a little overwhelming when I think about it, but at the same time I can't think of any better way to get a career started.

Anyways, this is probably way too long of an introduction post. Nice to meet you!

Hello - You are in the right place!  I was in a similar situation a few months ago. We just passed our first BRC audit a few weeks ago and my time in the forums was well spent.  There is a lot of useful information and many well respected professionals available to help you on your journey to certification.
