Hi All,

I am working to approve a packaging supplier from China and need your input on the FDA/CFIA requirements to bring direct food contact laminated bags from China.

Can you please guide the requirements as per the regulation here in US/Canada. What are the minimum documentations I should have before I approve  this supplier ?

This is something very new to us as all our packaging suppliers were within the country.

Thanks in advance

If you are packing dairy or meat products, you will need to submit samples to the CFIA to get a No Objection Letter.  Check their website.

Lab tests should include migration and heavy metals.  Based on actual material there may be other tests required.  The lab results should be from a recognized, certified laboratory.
