Hi All,

Just wondering how many people keep concentrated  H202 in their home for the health benefits?

(eg a lovely enema!)

Anyway if you do, I just had an email from a 'health company' advising everyone in the UK who does, to stockpile it  quickly as when the law changes they will be unable to buy it any more-

(houses full of gallons of hydrogen peroxide!!!!)

sometimes things just make you wonder!

Mike

Over the counter H202 is 3%. The licensing is for concentrations 12% or greater.

Not sure what anyone has in mind for concentrations greater than 3% for "health benefits", but then again the internet is the snake oil salesman of the 21st Century.

I worked on a research project using > 50% Hydrogen peroxide....the safety concerns were monumental.

When I worked at a 5 gallon water plant, the route men who would go out & service the water coolers used to use it - they wanted to try a new one that was labelled as 50%!

I told them it would  COMBUST and to not approve the vendor, but they were selling it sooo cheap, they bought it anyway, totally ignoring my concerns because they had seem "Hydrogen Peroxide" at home and assumed it was the same thing.

I looked at the actual product and it was 5% (so I guess it was about the same thing) - typo on the spec sheet - but that company had taken the NSF logo and slapped it on their box, without getting approval, so I called up the NSF and busted them, and then a corporate top level  manager who looked at the wikipedia page for Hydrogen Peroxide had it pulled.    But I did end up climbing the corporate chain until I someone who would listen - and it took a while.

I applaud the decision by the UK.  Hydrogen peroxide in the wrong hands is a propellant for would be "rocket surgeons" and an aid for illicit manufacturing of controlled substances.

There is also this interesting news from some "flaky website". :glare:
