You are a cruel lady.  But that's very cool, and probably deserved.

I would simply forward him the Clause Senior Management commitment, then would link this incident he provoked with this each of the clauses where required, and would put in copy everybody by asking him frankly that his help is crucial otherwise, i will not be accountable if accident or even death happen.

Ethically he cannot fire you. You are just doing your Job, if he will not respect Ground rule, so in internal audit meeting or external audit meeting this issue need to be raised but with tact!!! always tact!!, do not show you are furious!!, he will cease the opportunity to reprimand you.

Although the Boss is Never Wrong, sometimes there is principle which need to be respected, accepting all this you are not ethic also because people's health are at risk because you cannot solve this problem with your BOSS. Maybe a day he will become a Coach!!!

So I'm still plugging along, doing my job... there aren't a lot of opportunities in this line of work where I live and I really want to continue building my experiences and skills, so for now, I'm here.

Funny, once you accept certain things and realize you can't change a person so set in their ways, it becomes more fun to butt heads with them and nag them like a child about washing hands and putting on hairnets  :giggle:

Ethically he can't but legally, especially if you are management and dependent on local laws if you aren't, he can.

This becomes a very interesting legal issue, but not if you are caught in the middle of it.  If you complain to him, he can fire you, especially if you are in an At-Will Employment state.  But if you report him to a regulatory agency, then you have whistleblower protections, which means he can't fire you, harass you, or retaliate.

The downside is that, in a small company, he can make your life miserable.

I would put your resume out there on LinkedIn, take courses, attend webinars, join industry organizations, and find someplace better.  It may take you some time, but it will be worth it.  If you are into revenge, report him after you leave.

My $0.02 worth.

For the most part I agree with you Martha.

Of course after blowing the whistle if you violate the company handbook or whatever rules they have they typically have a clause that you can be terminated even if it's a lower level offense so it's only a matter of time before you find yourself unemployed.  That's why I said to find a new job.

And look at it this way.  If you are passionate about food safety, and many of us are, why work somewhere where food safety is the bottom of the list of what's important?  You are going to run yourself ragged while nobody else cares.  I love that I'm now in a position working for a company that takes food safety very seriously and that it is something that is ingrained in the company mindset.

Definitely.  MmeMuffin has the right idea, just stay and get experience, then jump ship.

It's exciting changing mindsets in a place where people are committed and only have the human nature issue of resisting change.  I'm working through that now here, and the people really do have the attitude of wanting things to get better.  I'm trying to give everyone a LOT of lead time and engage them in being part of devising the changes.  We've started down the road to filling the gaps for BRC, working as a team.

But if you are somewhere that no one really cares, then you bide your time, get what you can out of it, and get out when the gettin's good.
