I am going to caveat this rant with several important pieces of information.  I have taken and passed many of ASQ exams first time with minor study time beforehand.  I have studied Quality systems, continuous improvement, and qualify to take my Six Sigma Black Belt exam.  I think Deming should be nominated for sainthood.  I love his Red Bead studies. I know and understand quality.

If you are expecting to take the Advanced Practitioner exam and be tested on higher level SQF knowledge.  Expect again.  I would like to say this test is more about  quality ideas and tools.  I think that is the intention, however it is so poorly done, the questions so badly worded, that in my mind this is a worthless exam.  Since I have paid for it will be on my resume, however, I for one will not be impressed by it.

It would be interesting to know how many times people are having to take it before they pass.

SQFI needs to do this one over and refund a bunch of money--IMHO.

While it is more about quality tools, between the misspellings, and the potential for more than one answer to be correct, and it is clear that they are looking for a very specific answer, for a very specific situation, I think this test is a disaster.  While I passed it as well, am so sorry I spent the money on it.

Seriously, if you're going to ask questions that are word for word definitions from a book on Corrective Actions, at least tell me what the book is

I hate to be cynical, but it is seems as if it almost designed so you need to take one of their courses to figure out where they are going with the test as they went for "their" version on concepts such as KPI's, pareto diagrams, control charts, Root cause, Fishbone diagrams etc,.  While I understand that they were trying to make the test so you had demonstrate some understanding of the concepts and be able to manipulate them, that is not what they accomplished.

This test is about quality concepts that is all great stuff and should be part of every Food safety tool box, but the execution of this test is terrible.

Thanks for the heads up. This was recommended to me, by my auditor, of course. I think I will hold off for a while. The next one in my area is August anyway.

If you can get their written materials, you should be fine.  I wouldn't spend days at it.  You just need their "interpretation" to get through the test.
