Hello again,

I have 2 large warehouses that finished product is stored in.  The product is in boxes, on skids and most are plastic wrapped for shipment.

There are no covers on my light fittings in my warehouse.

Since 4.2.5.3 doesn't specific ally state that there has to be a covering, as in 4.2.5.2, and there is no exposed product, would that be an infraction from an auditor?

Thanks again,

Sharon

Yes it could be unless your bulbs are shatterproof.

It really depends on the situations. How far are the shatterproof bulbs from the exposed products? Any major risks pose to the final products? Whether it needs a cover depends on the risk assessment at your facility particularly about this issue. With light and light fitting controls, please also refer to 11.2.5.2. The goal is to make sure the final products are not affected by any risks of foreign material contaminations.

I'd like to add this is considering your bulbs are shatterproof. There are some really good threads on here for this topic.

Sharon,

In our warehouses even finished product my lights are either shatterproof lights or have protective covers.  My interpretation of code states that even if product is protected your light fixtures need to be designed so they will not break and shatter onto the product..  I would say if yours are not even in finished product area you are looking at a minor non-conformity. Hope this helps.

Regards,
