Carlito: I need more explanation in the context of
HACCP
Nicole: no
ana maria: yes
Emmanuel: Yes
Yusufu: yes
Allan Stirling: Just because the poll says the majority know - why did you skip over these salient points.
CHOI FOCK CHEONG: hi there, malaysia here, #1MDB
Nicole: i dont know thats why Im here
Grace Akinyemi: Yes
Eric Blackwell: I'm I the only one having audio issues
Bernardo: si
Paulina: I am also havind audio issues
Nicole: Ericx did you accxidentally pause your screen during the poll
Ruth: Validation - will it work, verification - is it working
Nicole: sorry my "c" key is sticking with the "X"
Kirsten: good one, Ruth!
Eric Blackwell: no
thies dols: We refer to validation under FSSC 22000
Patrick: So from the NACMCF definition noted in the presentation, does validation take precedence over verification in establishing the
food safety system?
Aliyu: succintly explained here.
Allan Stirling: she is talking about accuracy vs reliability
merry chastine: halo! selamat malam!
Allan Stirling: measuring what your supposed to be measuring
Allan Stirling: rather than measuring for compliance an inaccurately designed plan
miguel: yes
Aliyu: how do we conduct such studies?
Almuiz: yes
Nicole: my screen froze
Brandy: I have tried multiple browsers, multiple times, clearing out all history/cache and NOTHING seems to work.
Vanda: yearly
Bernardo: the image on the screen is fuzzy, please improve the focus
Carlos: yes, did not voted
miguel: image is clear here - internet explorer - no ssues
Bernardo: the image on the screen is fuzzy, please improve the focus
Grace Akinyemi: yes
miguel: you probably have issues with connectivity
Yusufu: Yes
Erin: We are regulated by the USDA and they have a Directive that came out that corresponds with this. Very interesting
leila: same for my image....
Carlito: What do you think is the best
HACCP composition of
HACCP Team Members
Erin: Carlito- a team member from all areas
Carlito: Thanks
sanjeev: crossfunctional team members
pamela: @ carlito: you need to involve all departments from your plant that you judge necessary to conduct you
HACCP
Torjo: yest
pamela: @ carlito: I mean one key member from each department (maintenance, production, R & D, quality....) depending of your organization
felicia: On Carlito question, may I add that the
HACCP team member needs to be aware of
HACCP program, being an active member in the process
Adebola: Hello from Maryland, USA
Miguel Gamboa: Hello from Las Vegas
leila: sound?
Ruth: Campden have just issued a new
HACCP Guide line 42 - fifth edition
boedi prasetyo minarto: of course thies
Kirsten: How do you validate
CCPs (metal detectors) that have been in place for years, are tested (verified) multiple times for days? Then how do you document it?
Carlito: In your experience, how do we motivate the micro cottage and small enterprises to implement
HACCP then verify and validate
Kirsten: Sorry - verified multiple times PER DAY
Yusufu: @ Kirsten, you would need an external company to come in once a year to validate them for you. That's what we do and it satisfies the Safe Quality Food auditors.
pamela: @ Kirsten: in Food industries, I validated my
Metal detector CCP by a third part company (fr example: the metal dector siupplier or your tests strips providers..)
Dirk: @Kirsten, I agree 3rd party come and certify calibration of md's
pamela: @ Kirsten: i did it once/year
Lupita: Great question Kirsten, we used pur records to validate that the
metal detector was effective and the certificaton auditor told us not to use our own records
Yusufu: @Kirsten, we use the company which supplied them to us. We monitor them daily, a supervisor verifies that the technician is following the
metal detector SOP daily. They all document.
Kirsten: Yusufu - really? Is it about running calibration checks? I can't imagine an outside company would validate?
Carlos: @Yusufu, that is calibration, not validation I think
Ruth: Kirsten, I was just going to say the same thing, an external maintenance contractor - usually the manufacturer of the
metal detector requires to service it on a yearly basis and validate its working efficiently and accurately
Allan Stirling: what would be normal confidence intervals for SPC studies?
Niels: @ Kirsten: we also do this once a year and also after every major break down. (by third party)
Yusufu: @ Riuth, you're spot on. @ Carlos, it's validation buddy. Our Engineering team calibrates the metal detectors.
Hoa Tran: how do we validate that the equipment is free of chemical residue after cleaning ?
Vinoth Kumar: Wats d diff between calibration n validation?
Nuraini: Hello, from Malaysia. I'd like to know how do one validate uv light used to disinfect drinking water? Plant is new and is planning on implementing
HACCP
SuperBakery: most metal detectors are self calibrating, test strips can validate that calibration. We check no less than 3 xs per shift. The size of test strips must fit in you specs in your
HACCP program
Ruth: You are validatin that it is working accurately by calibrating it
Carlos: I believe that Kirsteen how to demonstrate the MD is the effective control measure in her operation.
Dirk: @Hoa Tran, there are test kits such as chlorine strips to test for residue
felicia: @nuraini,the UV light manufacturer have information on effectiveness of the use of UV to kill certain microbial
william: Kirsten-we calibrate every 2 hours, verified twice daily by QA, and the manufacturer of equipment Services (validates working correctly) annually. It works for SQF.
Carlos: Validation = science Verification = checking Calibration = accuracy
Ruth: Calibration is done by external companies, you are verifying that it is working on the hourly basis
sonia rosales: you can validate the allergens with some microbiological samples or you can do swaps that will give you the validation
Nuraini: @felicia: so the plant can actually use the manufacturer spec manual as validation reference? Do they need to carry out full scale validation or can they do so say in the next 4 or 5 years? thank you for your reply
Zaira: how do you validate a pest control program?
william: Correct Ruth. The manual describes it as calibrating.
Hoa Tran: I like chlorine strip because chemical is not protein.
Patrick: When it comes to
CCP equipment e.g metal detectors or sterilizers, do we perfrom validation or qualification tests?
Adam: @zaira you need to have traps and trend the number of captures
Adam: @patrick we valid with test strips being scanned every two hours
Yusufu: I think we should have a discussion on the forum about verification and validation in the Food Industry. Let me concentrate on the webinar for now.
Ruth: Valiodation metal detectors needs to be done on a product specific basis as different product size and weights will require different test pieces too - it is best to get an expert to give the advice - usually from the manufacturer of the
metal detector
Dirk: @Hoa Tran, you could also invest in ATP tests
Zaira: @adam wouldnt the scheduled monitoring and trends would be verification?
Hoa Tran: ATP only detects protein, not chemical.
sonia rosales: Remember that for allergens ATP's are not accurately because just will check if is clean.,
felicia: @nuraini, youcan definitely reference on supplier experimental studies. You can further validate your process as needed
Nuraini: @felicia: great! thank you!
Wayne: There are several very good allergen tests on the market and you need to determine how precise you want to be
Christina Terrell: We're currently working on validating our prerequisite programs and are relying on industry best practices for technical documentation. Do you have any suggestions on validating PRPs? For instance, site security as a justification for a bioterrorism hazard?
Wayne: ATP is a verification, while microtesting is validation
felicia: Microtesting is verification but analysis of the microtesting can be validation
Wayne: That is true Felicia, depends on how you use the system
Gayan: Sorry I joined the webinar bit late. Was Codex guide on validation of food safety measures (CAC/GL 69-2008 already discussed?
Shahid Lateef: yes
luis velasquez: ok
Gayan: Thanks Shahid
Nicole: Are we on the documenting Validation screen slide?
Ebenezer: tes
Ebenezer: yes
Almuiz: yes
Edsangela: Great presentation!
Vinoth Kumar: Yes
ramesh: yes
Ajit: Great presentation.
lamia wakim: yes
pamela: Thank you Ruth! Great presentation :)
Sripriya subramanian: Thanks! Great presentation!
Nicole: Very helpful presentation Thank you
Ines Martinez: Is it possible to go through a hole exaple of a complete validation??
Charlie: Thank you Ruth and Simon. A webinar virgin; I'm impressed. An hour very well spent.
ramesh: Good presentation
Esther: Could you share with us which statitical sofware are you using or which on you recommend? Thanks Ruth
Nuraini: Thanks Ruth, very enlightening presentation!
Manish: Thanks for the nice presentation
Richard Harris: Validation of metal detectors?
Aliyu: very briliant presentation
Ines Martinez: Thank you Ruth!
Mark: Thanks. Good distinctions.
Zaira: how do ou validate something that cannot be easily validated through science such as pest control program or security program?
Patrick: In pharmaceautical field, the production environment of validated processes/equipment is controlled, and so revalidation is conducted whenever there are frequent failures, or major failures or a change log analysis or reviews, have you come accross this approach?
ramesh: Thanks Ruth
Allan Stirling: How has FSMA changed the responsibilities of operators/manufacturers with respect to verification/validation activities?
Torjo: Thanks Ruth
Ebenezer: Many thanks Ruth excellent presentation
David Levy: Simon, you should try WAZE for navigating
boedi prasetyo minarto: Good & clear presentation Ruth
Zaira: WAZE is awsome
Olubunmi: Highly useful presentation
Yusufu: Thank you Ruth for the presentation.
Almuiz: Can the validation done as like an audit questions and answers and documented? Thanks.
Yusufu: Folks, we should have a discussion about verification of Pre-requisite programs (PRP's) on the forum.
premnath: thank you
Ehab Nassar: For
metal detector can we consider the supplier's certificate and calibration certificate as one of the validation documents
Roderick: @ Esther - Statistical program I use is QI Macros for Excel. There are other expensive software programs. But QI Macros fits my budget.
rajsekhar: whys hsould pest control be validated...as its considered as pre requisite
Yusufu: @ Ehab Nassar, spot on. Very true.
Kirsten: @Yusufu - Yes!
rajsekhar: of course it should be checked for the quality of work they deliver
Yusufu: @ Kirsten, please initiate the question on the forum.
leila: trend analysis& expert on pest control surveys - as BRC aske in V6,
Gurpreet: As mentioned for validation of MD, initial challenge test data and verification data can be used. If consider the initial installation data for validation, do it require to validate annually, I mean repeat the procedure or verification data will be enough to support?
Esther: Thank youso much Roderick!
leila: for MD: go to maintenance fllor, and ick up samples, test THOSE ones by the MD/25 times, so to catch repetibility
Yusufu: @ Gurpreet, i think yes. We are SQF certified and it's required during the annual audit.
Gayan: In new FDA FSMA final rules for Prevntive Control FDA says no need to validate recall program and supplier control program. Your thaughts on that please?
pamela: @ Gurpreet: Yes because your equipment may deviate in the time ; that's why you need to calibrate and validate it by a third part company
leila: the MD supplier CALIBRATES the devise
Richard Harris: Validate HTST Pasteurization controlled by State of CA?
Ebenezer: What about labelling?
João: Is final product analisys an verification of the flowchart?
rajsekhar: Is theer any future plan to consider validation as a new principle in
haccp?
houda: yes
Kirsten: I think labeling validation program is mostly about validating your process for creating and approving
Steve: Our
CCP is our labeling due to our product. Tree Nuts. We validate through 5 independent signatures to review and verify
Kirsten: verification would be that the right labels are being applied
Theophilus Fon : There is a tool on the CFIA site to validate labels see link bellow
thies dols: Allergen labelling - mix up hazard - what happens with labels not used - how sure are you the computer prints the correct label?
Roderick: Labeling should be considered for allergens ... is the label applied to the right product
Ebenezer: thanks
Patrick: In pharmaceautical field, the production environment of validated processes/equipment is controlled, and so revalidation is conducted whenever there are frequent failures, or major failures orvia a change log analysis or reviews for annual reassessments, have you come accross this approach?
Esther: Simon, could you please get back to my question please??
Frank Sedzielarz: About recalls, the FDA considers this as a corrective action. The regulation may cite this as a "should". However, if the firm does not have a corrective plan in place they would be required to follow a plan outline in the subject regulation.
Emmanuel: Thanks Ruth
Niels: Thank you
