Hello,
I need advice for a Supplier Approval as per 3.5.1.3 from BRC 7. We have been using a Supplier for Herbs & Spices in bulk who has a BRC for Storage and Distribution (Wholesale module).
The standard says that
3.5.1.3 Interpretation Purchasing from agents and brokers
Where the agent or broker is itself certificated to the BRC Global Standard for Agents and Brokers or to the wholesale module of the BRC Global Standard for Storage and Distribution, the requirement to approve the processor, packer or consolidator is not applicable, as the requirements of these Standards ensure that effective systems for supplier approval and traceability are in place. However, the site will still be expected to know the identity of the processor, packer or consolidator.
We requested from the supplier to disclose the identity of the last processor, packer or consolidator. The response that was given was that they are the consolidator and they do not have to reveal their sources. Is that sufficient as an answer? What would be considered as last consolidation place and what proof do I need to obtain to support this. I want to avoid any misinterpretation from auditors. Also I presume the auditor may say that any agent / broker or distributor may say this in order to avoid disclosing their suppliers and further evidences might be necessary.
Many thanks in advance.
