Anyone know when the Edition 8 Guidance Docs for Manufacturing and for Primary Production are coming out? Or are they already out too?

Has anyone heard when the guidance documents will be coming out for Ed. 8? We are 2 months away before it is to be implemented.

The Quality Code guidance document is already available.  Knowing SQFI ... the rest will probably be available sometime in June  :rolleyes:

What guidance document would I use for Mod 2 for Food Packaging, excluding the Quality Code?

In the absence of a specific guidance for packaging, use Guidance Documents: The SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing – Module 2

From the guidance itself: "This document provides general guidance for SQF sites, consultants and auditors when implementing and auditing module 2 of the SQF Code, edition 8 and can be used where no specific industry sector guidance is available."

Thanks Tony. Any idea what I should use as guidance document for Mod 13? I don't see it on the SQF website.

Couple of Comments

 

Note that some (but probably very few) Code Clauses apparently differ in their specific textual requirements, eg 2.4.8.3.

 

There are subtleties in the interpretation of the Manufacturing Guidance whose carryover (or not) to Packaging are possibly problematic, eg see these post/thread -

afaik there are currently zero Packaging Guidances so you can only compare other Codes. And Hope.

Where there are new elements and similar requirements to food, I would consider the food manufacturing guidance:
